With our local iwi Ngāti Kauwhata

KAPA HAKA

In 2016 we established a Kapa Haka group consisting of 70 students from across the school.

We are working closely with our local iwi Ngāti Kauwhata to build and sustain our school’s te reo me ōna tikanga.

This page serves as a resource to map our progress in this area, as well as a go to place for our performers to practice their learning.

On Friday, during Kapa Haka, our learners started creating actions to go with our school waiata. Every learner displayed our DRIVE values while working in their groups and then sharing with the rest of the school. There was an awesome sense of tuakana teina across the groups as learners of all ages helped each other. Even some our kaiako displayed ako by creating and performing their own actions to go with our waiata.
